What do you need to create correct product information?

Updated over a year ago

To use the Retail platform optimally, it is important to make sure your product data is up-to-date and complete. If you have incomplete data, this can hold up the Retail platform implementation process or even lead to unwanted claims and difficulties.

This short reference guide will help you understand what you need to make the Retail platform implementation process quick and easy.

Product attributes

Each product has various product attributes, such as its name, ID, dimensions, weight, color, accessories, or nutritional values. You need to provide as many attribute values per product as possible. The Retail platform and our support team can help you identify what attributes each of your retailers requires using the Mappings and Templates features.

In Dashboard, you can see the the readiness percentage of all your products in the panel Your Overall Completeness. This number tells you how much data you have already provided for all the needed product attributes and how much data is still missing.

NOTE: Provide a clear description for each product and add images. Products with irrelevant images or without images at all have incredibly low conversion rates.

Attributes containing text

All product attributes containing pieces of text, such as product descriptions or marketing bullet points, should be clear and error-free. Check the spelling of all text-based attributes.

We recommend using a personalized writing style for each product brand to make sure all your text-based attributes use the same tone and voice as their brand does. Do not use dry and understated language unless it is brand-based. Aim to engage your audience and make sure that you communicate what makes your products special. Boring and uninspired texts don't contribute to sales.

Key takeaways

  • Your product data should be complete, up-to-date, and correct and should correspond to what you are trying to communicate to your customers.

  • You should be mindful of what kind of an image your product data creates for your company and your retailers.

  • Your product images should be engaging, up-to-date, and clear and should display the right product.

  • You make your products stand out using your product data and improving your writing.

  • The Retail platform team can request additional product data from you if the initial set of product data you send to the Retail platform lacks the necessary details. This drags out the Retail platform implementation process.

  • The Retail platform team can help you enhance your product data by polishing your writing if needed.
